Math Rush Volume 3 is available on Amazon here.
{This game was given to me free of charge. However, all opinions are my own!}
Read on for a detailed REVIEW.
Along with the other time-based cooperative-play games Math Rush Volume 1 and Volume 2, the cool math and science game gurus over at Genius Games sent me Volume 3, which focuses on the harder concepts of decimals, percentages, and fractions. MATH RUSH Volume 3 Fractions, Decimals & Percentages is more of a challenge than the volumes that focus on addition/subtraction and multiplication/exponents and not just because of the higher-level math concepts. In this volume, players need to simultaneously find the equivalent of three types of cards {fractions, decimals, and percentages} while also applying them within the parameters of each challenge card.

In addition to reviewing the
FUN FACTOR
and the EDUCATIONAL VALUE,
I will also include info on the

ORGANIZATIONAL COMPONENT: ♥♥♥♥__This game consists of 108 normal-size cards and one set of foldable directions packaged in a card-sized box. The cards are high quality with vibrant colors and a sleek coating but the box is lacking in durability. I’m sure in an effort to make the game affordable, designers used a basic paper box with a lid that is supposed to tuck/untuck into itself. It functions fine but I suspect it won’t hold up to loads of use. ORGANIZATIONAL COMPONENT SCORE: 4/5 ♥♥♥♥__

FUN FACTOR: ♥♥♥♥♥ Unlike most games out there, this is a cooperative math game as opposed to a competitive game. It would be a great game for small groups of kids in a co-op/classroom setting or for sibling sets at home. And, because it is a time-based game, it is fast and fun! This volume is especially fun because of the frantic chatter back and forth while trying to match up equivalent cards represented by the different forms {fractions, decimals and percentages}. It is also possible to play alone which makes it feasible for anybody to play anywhere and have fun with it! FUN FACTOR SCORE: 5/5 ♥♥♥♥♥

EDUCATIONAL VALUE: ♥♥♥♥♥ Mostly because it fits my teenage son’s math skills best. this game is our favorite of the three different volumes of Math Rush. But, because, many kids struggle to recognize the equivalencies among decimals, fractions, and percentages, I think most educators would find this game to have a very high educational value. I will admit that it took me a beat or two to calculate how some of the decimal cards matched up with the percentage and fraction cards and I doubt I would not be alone in that. So, I think this game would offer a lot of educational value for several ages. Even adults! EDUCATIONAL VALUE SCORE: 5/5 ♥♥♥♥♥

CLARITY LEVEL: ♥♥♥♥♥ This game plays exactly like the other two volumes with a super easy set-up, very few rules, and a rather simple process. But, as referenced in my review of Math Rush Volume 1, I was initially a little confused because I skipped the instructions. So, if this is your first Math Rush game, don’t be like me, and be sure to read the instructions before you play. It truly is a simple game with clear instructions! Oh, and they provide a QR code that shows how to play the game too! CLARITY LEVEL SCORE: 5/5 ♥♥♥♥♥

OVERALL SCORE: ♥♥♥♥__ If you have students who need to work on reaching a better understanding of the direct relationships between decimals, percentages, and fractions, Math Rush Volume 3 is an excellent option. Not only is it fun, but it’s also fast with an average game time of 15 minutes and friendly with its cooperative approach. Oh! And it’s great for adults too! OVERALL SCORE: 95% ♥♥♥♥__
