HOW TO WIN: This game is a great cooperative game where players work together to win!
HOW TO PLAY IN ONE SENTENCE: Using a three-minute timer, work with other players to reach a set goal by playing the cards in your hand based on specific rules including evens/odds, ascending/descending and more.
ORGANIZATIONAL COMPONENT: ♥♥♥♥__This game consists of 108 normal-size cards and one set of foldable directions packaged in a basic paper box. The cards are high quality with vibrant colors and a sleek coating but the box could use some work. The durability of this particular box seems better than most card games but it is designed with a lid that is supposed to tuck/untuck into itself. Usually, this type ends up ripped and damaged but nothing that cannot be solved with some duct tape or replaced with a plastic baggie. ORGANIZATIONAL COMPONENT SCORE: 4/5 ♥♥♥♥__

FUN FACTOR: ♥♥♥♥♥ It was refreshing and fun to play a cooperative math game! Not that my son and I ever get crossways while competing against one another but playing together towards a common goal made for an extra dose of fun during our school day. We enjoyed trying to beat the clock rather than one another. And, I found myself thinking that it would be especially fun for siblings or friends to play together, even if at different levels of math understanding. FUN FACTOR SCORE: 5/5 ♥♥♥♥♥

EDUCATIONAL VALUE: ♥♥♥♥♥ This game allows loads of practice on basic addition and subtraction facts, up to 25. There are also some Advanced Cards that allow players to take it up a notch, if desired, but can be removed as well. Players also need to focus on whether an answer is odd/even as well as whether the answer fits in an ascending/descending order. The total number of cards played also needs to be monitored. So, while the skills necessary to play are fairly basic, players are expected to use more than one skill at a time. All in all, it’s a great way to practice basic facts and it’s much more fun than flash cards! EDUCATIONAL VALUE SCORE: 5/5 ♥♥♥♥♥

CLARITY LEVEL: ♥♥♥♥♥ I won’t lie. At first, this game was confusing to me. The directions are simple, clear, and concise but it’s just one of those games that didn’t make much sense until I was actually playing. I automatically assumed that the Goal Card contained the answer we were shooting for, as opposed to the number of cards we needed to play, so the rules made little sense while I was reading them. But, as soon as we started playing, things clicked and it was easy {and fun!} to play. But, there is definitely an “abstract” quality to the game that can equate to extra fun for some but might result in frustration for others. CLARITY LEVEL SCORE: 5/5 ♥♥♥♥♥

OVERALL SCORE: ♥♥♥♥__ Math Rush Volume 1 is a fun and unusual way to practice those all-important addition/subtraction facts. It’s meaty enough to serve an educational purpose, quick enough to not disrupt your day and fun enough to be engaging for multiple levels! OVERALL SCORE: 95% ♥♥♥♥__
