I found this little gem while searching for an educational stocking stuffer for my teen. I had never heard of this game but I am so glad I took a chance on it! My son and I just played it for the first time tonight and we both loved it!

ORGANIZATIONAL COMPONENT: ♥♥♥♥♥ If you have read any of my other game reviews, you know I have a serious appreciation for neatly packaged and well-organized games. Games with wimpy boxes and easily lost pieces are not my cup of tea. However, games that come in cute little round tins that fit in the palm of your hand, like this game, rock my world! Seriously, not only will this game stay neat and organized, it’s both small and secure enough to throw in your purse for a tech-free way to handle those unexpected periods of empty time while out and about. And it only includes cards, plus directions. That’s it! ORGANIZATIONAL COMPONENT SCORE: 5/5 ♥♥♥♥♥

FUN FACTOR: ♥♥♥♥_ Whether you love or detest history will play a big role in how fun you consider this game. My son LOVES history. I, on the other hand, tolerate it…not because I don’t like the topic, but rather because I am not very good at it. I value it greatly and strive to learn and retain more on the subject daily, but I am not very good at it. That’s for sure. So, I cannot say I was overly thrilled to try out this little game. Turns out, I did better than I thought I would AND had fun doing it! Now, I am not suggesting you show up at your next Couples Game Night at the neighbor’s house with this in hand. It’s not THAT fun. But, it is quick and simple enough to turn what some might consider a boring subject into a fun activity. FUN FACTOR SCORE: 4/5 ♥♥♥♥_

EDUCATIONAL LEVEL: ♥♥♥♥♥ Though this game does not actually teach anything about the historical events, other than the year, it is still an excellent way to supplement any history curriculum. The events in this game span basically the entirety of our world’s timeline and, therefore, create a “big picture” for all of the players as the game is played. And, the longer the game is played and/or the more players involved, the more events are added to the timeline. And, the more that are added, the harder it becomes to figure out where the next event should go. You can get away with just having a basic understanding of where an event falls on an enormous timeline {were the dinosaurs wiped out before or after the abolition of slavery,} for a limited number of plays with this game. Soon enough, though, you need to be able to recall whether JFK was shot before or after MLK gave his famous speech, “I Have a Dream.” EDUCATIONAL LEVEL SCORE: 5/5 ♥♥♥♥♥

CLARITY LEVEL: ♥♥♥♥♥ Just like the packaging, the directions are simple, clear and concise. No room for confusion. CLARITY LEVEL SCORE: 5/5 ♥♥♥♥♥
OVERALL SCORE: ♥♥♥♥♥ Timeline Events is a great little game. It’s quick, simple, fun and educational. My only issue is that I wish it had more cards/events. It includes only 55, which, in the big picture of things, is not very big. 😉 OVERALL SCORE: 95% ♥♥♥♥♥
