WHAT ARE SENTENCE FRAMES?

Sentence Frames are simply a starting point for writing a complete sentence. They can be presented separately to provide inspiration {on an index card or in a wall pocket chart} or they can be embedded directly on paper.

WHY ARE SENTENCE FRAMES EFFECTIVE AS A LITERACY ACTIVITY?

Early writers often struggle to think of what they want to write about and this tool removes that block while providing inspiration, suggestions and ideas.

WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM SENTENCE FRAMES?

Any early and emergent writers can benefit from this simple, yet effective literacy activity. Additionally, students who seem to have a hard time choosing an idea during writing time can often get to work faster when offered a frame. These can also be a valuable tool when a student is having a hard time expressing a particular thought or feeling.
