Since it is geared towards younger kids, I have no clue why Amazon would think I need Miss Bernard Is a Wild Card, but I sure am grateful for that their algorithm made the suggestion! NOTE: You do not need to be familiar with the My Weird School book series in order to make sense of the game. I had never even heard of the book before playing the game.

CLARITY LEVEL: ♥♥♥♥♥ The instructions are very clear withhelpful headings and colorful images. We found the process of playing very simple and never needed to reference the instructions again. Everything is color-coded to help even beginning readers put sentences together. CLARITY LEVEL SCORE: 5/5 ♥♥♥♥♥

FUN FACTOR: ♥♥♥♥♥ Oh my word! I had no expectation of enjoying this game like I did! And, better yet, my 14-year-old son loved it too! It’s part nonsensical, part educational and all fun! We laughed a ton at the ridiculous sentences that we created. In addition to being perfect for small groups of siblings or friends, I think this game would be GREAT for an entire family to play or even for a silly teen get-together. NOTE: You may want to go through the cards before you play and check for any that don’t meet your standard of “humorous.” While we did not find anything offensive, there is definite potential of that for others. FUN FACTOR SCORE: 5/5 ♥♥♥♥♥

EDUCATIONAL LEVEL: ♥♥♥♥♥ Though this game results in very ridiculous sentences, it does require that players use specific parts of speech and one set of rhyming words to complete a complex sentence. The word cards are divided into the following categories: teacher, rhyme, action, adjective and noun. The “action” cards are actually phrases that contain a conjunction, verb and more. So, if you want to stick to the exact grammar terms you have taught your kids already, you may need to clarify for them what’s what. But it’s all very straightforward in the sense that you cannot have a complete sentence without one of each card. The sentence may be out-of-this-world ridiculous, but it will be complete! There is also a much bigger opportunity to be strategic than I realized…..until my son beat me 87 to 38. So, it’s good for the noggin’ on many fronts. EDUCATIONAL LEVEL SCORE: 5/5 ♥♥♥♥♥

ORGANIZATIONAL COMPONENT: ♥♥♥♥♥ If you have read any of my previous game reviews, you know I love, love, love a good, strong game box that keeps things organized! And Miss Bernard delivers just that! The small box contains a deck of cards, a small pencil, a scorepad and four fold-out sentence boards. It also includes a cardboard insert that not only keeps it all in place, IT TELLS YOU WHERE TO PUT EVERYTHING! I have never seen that before! It’s a mom’s dream come true! No more excuses for not putting everything away properly! ORGANIZATIONAL COMPONENT: 5/5 ♥♥♥♥♥

OVERALL SCORE: ♥♥♥♥♥ Though Miss Bernard Is a Wild Card is truly ridiculous, it’s also delightful and educational! OVERALL SCORE: 100% ♥♥♥♥♥
